Youthinc was established with the strong support of the Commercial Retail Group (CRG) in May 2006.

CRG is a major owner/operator of Foodland Supermarkets – Adelaide’s Finest Supermarkets (AFS) at Fairview Green, Frewville and Pasadena – and metropolitan shopping centres throughout Adelaide. It has been involved in retail operations and commercial property development for more than 50 years. It is highly regarded in the retail industry and continues to set new standards in supermarket operations and shopping centre management.

CRG had long-recognised the need to support young people who are disadvantaged by social, economic and other factors and resolved to do something about it. They went way beyond establishing a corporate foundation to disperse donations by creating a new, independent, registered charity.

CRG continues to fund 100% of Youthinc’s operating costs and receives no financial benefit from its support. The value of this relationship cannot be overstated. While many not-for-profit organisations struggle to engage with the corporate sector in any meaningful or sustainable way, Youthinc is effectively embedded inside a major retail company. And what CRG offers is full access to the business acumen of senior management; and a large business network of retailers, suppliers and service providers.
